Meet Dr. Caryn McAllister, the Founder
Founder & CEO | Clinician | Entrepreneur | Healthcare Advocate | Artist
With more than 30 years of experience as a physical therapist, Dr. Caryn McAllister, PT, DPT, founded High Quality Home Therapy with a vision to make exceptional healthcare more personal, collaborative, and accessible.
Her journey has been shaped by both her professional expertise and her personal experiences as a patient.
In 1996, early in her career, Caryn developed a brain tumor that required brain surgery. This experience, followed by other complex medical conditions, introduced her to the challenges of navigating the healthcare system from the patient’s perspective. Coordinating care, seeking answers, understanding treatment options, and advocating for herself gave her a deeper appreciation for the difficulties patients and families face. That was a time when healthcare wasn’t quite as siloed and fractured as it is today.
These experiences helped shape her philosophy: Exceptional healthcare is not simply about treating a diagnosis. It is about understanding the individual, listening, collaborating, and empowering people to make informed decisions about their health.
Throughout her career, Caryn has specialized in neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation, complex medical conditions, chronic pain, and movement disorders. As an entrepreneur, she has built HQHT into a multidisciplinary healthcare practice bringing together physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, social work and wellness services, with an emphasis on individualized care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
She believes patients deserve to be heard, respected, educated, and empowered to participate in decisions about their care. Her philosophy is grounded in a simple belief: Healthcare is a right, not a luxury.
Beyond healthcare, Caryn is a visual artist whose work explores movement, emotion, resilience, and the human experience through watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. Through the HQHT Foundation, the nonprofit organization she founded in 2016, she combines her passion for healthcare, advocacy, and art to expand access to rehabilitation and wellness services.
Caryn’s work is guided by one overarching mission: To help as many people as possible achieve optimal health and wellness.
